Gandhinagar, Sep 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) With the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) election less than two weeks away, the Gujarat unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a workers’ coordination meeting in the state capital, focusing on booth-level organisation, direct outreach to voters and communication of development and welfare schemes.
The meeting was chaired by state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma and attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and state organisation general secretary Ratnakar.
The GMC election is scheduled for October 11 across 11 wards and 44 seats, with counting on October 13.
Addressing party workers, Vishwakarma said the booth-level worker is the “true foundation” of the BJP organisation and that the party’s ideology and development message could reach people only through the active participation of its workers.
He called on workers to focus on effective public outreach, direct interaction with citizens and coordination, besides informing people about government welfare schemes and development work.
"Several development-oriented works had been carried out in Gandhinagar under the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, who represents the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel," he added.
Sanghavi said Gandhinagar had made significant progress in development and that work is continuing for the city’s overall development.
He urged workers to move forward with a commitment to public service while keeping citizens’ expectations and needs at the centre of their efforts. “The BJP's organisational structure extending up to the booth level is its biggest strength,” Sanghavi said.
The meeting focused on strengthening organisational preparations, public contact programmes and booth-level activities ahead of the civic election.
The BJP's meeting came on the day when the nomination withdrawal process for the GMC election was scheduled to end.
The State Election Commission had fixed September 26 as the last date for filing nominations, September 28 for scrutiny and September 29 for withdrawal.
Gandhinagar has 44 corporator seats spread across 11 wards. In the 2021 GMC election, the BJP won 41 seats, while the Congress won two and the Aam Aadmi Party one.
MPs, MLAs, along with other leaders, office-bearers and party workers, attended the meeting.
